Jackfish sign Dunsmore for 2021 Season

WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) are pleased to announce today that they have signed outfielder Aaron Dunsmore for the 2021 season.

Dunsmore, 31, has a vast history of baseball experience.  Aaron played division I baseball at the University of Dayton where he dominated hitting .323 with 11 home runs and .307 with 13 home runs in consecutive years.  In Junior College at Colby Community College Aaron was a 2 x First-Team All-Conference Outfielder hitting .430 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI his Sophomore Season.

Following college, Aaron played several years in Canada and Australia while continuing to put up extraordinary numbers. In 2013 Aaron made his way over to Sweden to play professionally with the Karlskoga Bats.  While there, Aaron hit .509 with 32 RBI for a Bats team that lost in the Swedish Finals.

“Aaron has excelled at every level he has played at, be it collegiately or professionally Aaron can flat out hit” said Jackfish General Manager Jason McKay. “Aaron also provides the versatility of being able to play both the outfield and middle infield when required.”

In the summer of 2015, Aaron played in the German Bundesliga with Heidenheim Heidekopfe, and lead the team to the claim German championship title behind a .439 batting average.  In the German Playoffs, Aaron hit .310 with 2 home runs and 11 RBI in 11 Games.

Success is not an unfamiliar story for Aaron. In 2012 he was voted the league MVP with the Swift Current Indians and became a league champion in 2012-13 with the Ainslie Bears.  He also led the Karlskoga Bats in hitting in 2013.

The Welland Jackfish are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
