Baycats baffle Jackfish
By ROD MAWHOOD
The Barrie Baycats swept a home and home against the Welland Jackfish with a 6-0 win Friday night in the Rose City.
Every Baycat starter except leadoff hitter Canice Ejoh registered a hit.
Malik Williams led the way with two hits and two runs batted in.
Cesar Rosado pitched seven shutout innings of 10 strikeout baseball for Barrie who improved to (23-11) on the season.
Jonah Weisner had both of Welland's hits in the game.
The Jackfish (25-9), although still in first place overall in the nine-team Intercounty Baseball League, are just (1-4) against Barrie this season.
"Ya, we've struggled against them," said Welland Manager Brian Essery.
"They're a good team, and have flat out beaten us four times this year.
We'll bounce back, we're too good of a team not to."
The Jackfish hope that bounce back begins Saturday night at home when they host the London Majors.
First pitch is set for 6:05 pm, and tickets are still available.
