Ben Abram named CBL Pitcher of the Week for second consecutive week

WELLAND, ON – The accolades continue to roll in for Welland Jackfish right-hander Ben Abram.

For the second consecutive week, Abram has been named the Canadian Baseball League Pitcher of the Week after another dominant performance on the mound.

The Jackfish starter earned his third victory of the season by tossing eight shutout innings, allowing no earned runs, no walks, and striking out five batters. Abram was in complete command throughout the outing, helping lead Welland to another victory while extending one of the most impressive starts to a season by any pitcher in the CBL.

Through his first three starts of the year, Abram owns a perfect 3-0 record with a sparkling 0.00 ERA. In 21.2 innings of work, he has allowed just one walk while striking out 18 batters.

“Ben has been outstanding for us every time he’s taken the ball,” said Welland Manager Brian Essery. “He attacks hitters, works quickly, and gives our team confidence every fifth day. To earn this award in back-to-back weeks speaks to the level of consistency he’s shown.”

Abram has quickly established himself as one of the league’s premier arms, combining pinpoint control with the ability to work deep into games. His lone walk allowed through more than 21 innings pitched highlights the command that has made him so difficult for opposing hitters to solve.

The Jackfish currently sit near the top of the Canadian Baseball League standings and will look to continue their strong start as Abram prepares for his next turn in the rotation.
