Christian Young Called Up to American Association

Welland, Ontario - The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) are pleased to announce that right-handed pitcher, Christian Young has been called up to the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Posting a 2.46 ERA prior to his departure, Christian set a team record with 16 strikeouts in a 7-1 win over the Barrie Baycats on July 31st. Young went 1-1 the Jackfish, recording 30 strikeouts and 5 walks over 18.1 innings pitched.

A Mercyhurst University alumni and Canadian born Hamburg, New York resident held a 2-0 record in 2019 with 39 strikeouts and eleven walks over 44.1 innings of work.

The Welland Jackfish are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
