Fish Re-Sign Veteran Lawson

WELLAND - The newest signing of the 2022 Fish roster is no stranger to the Intercounty Baseball League. Right-Handed Pitcher Brett Lawson has spent a decade on the mounds of Canada's oldest baseball league.

The towering 6-foot-8, Mississauga native and now Burlington resident returns to The Pond following a four-game stint with the Jackfish in 2021. In 13 innings of work, Brett recorded 10 strikeouts and only one walk.

One of the most experienced pitchers on this season's roster, Brett won the IBL's Dominico Cup with the Barrie Baycats between 2014 and 2018 following his professional playing days. Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 15th round of the 2001 MLB June Amateur Draft from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Brett spent six seasons in professional baseball.
