Fish Sign WBC and France National Team Member, Owen Ozanich

WELLAND - The Welland Jackfish, Niagara's Greatest Show, is excited to announce the signing of WBC and French National Team Member, Right-Handed Pitcher, Owen Ozanich.

Owen Ozanich has pitched in Europe since 2011. He has led the French Division I in wins, strikeouts, saves and ERA and has a 112-22 record for the Rouen Huskies, Parmaclima and Montpellier Barracudas in 15 seasons in Europe. He also played in the Australian Baseball League in 2011-2012, for Team Europe in 2015-2016, and in Santiago, Chile (2018) during the winter seasons. With his clubs, Ozanich has participated in 11 European Cups, he pitched the only perfect game in French D1 history and is an 8-time French champion. With the French national team, Ozanich has participated in three World Baseball Classic Qualifiers and six European Championships.

"Owen is the most accomplished French National Team pitcher and one of the most accomplished ever in Europe" said Jackfish Field Manager, Brian Essery. "He brings big game professional experience, and we’re excited to see what he can do in our league."

In September 2025 Ozanich made two appearances for France in the 2025 European Championships held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. His final out with les bleus was a groundout against former MLB infielder Didi Gregorius. Ozanich is the only player to play on all three French WBC Qualifier teams (2012, 2016, 2022). With the national team (2011-2025), he has appeared in 27 games, posting a 5-7 record in 109.2 IP, surrendering 104 hits, allowing 47 earned runs (3.86 ERA) while walking 37 and striking out 91.

Ozanich was born in France before moving to Aruba and then the United States.
