Fish stay perfect in win over Majors

LONDON - The Jackfish didn't miss a step since their lengthy time off due to Mother Nature wreaking havoc on their schedule, defeating the London Majors 6-2 on Tuesday night.

Not playing since May 18th due to several rained out games, the Jackfish came into Labatt Park head to head with the Majors as the only undefeated teams remaining in the Intercounty League.

Jackfish cleanup hitter Robert Mullen went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs earning him the Moving Niagara Player of the Game nod.

Jonah Weisner singled twice, stole two bases and scored three times, while Jake Sanford and Greyson Barrett each collected two hits.

Starting pitcher Teodoro Ortega (1-0) earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits over four innings. He walked two and struck out three.

London’s Victor Payano (2-1) took the loss. He was pulled with one out in the seventh and charged with six runs (two earned) on 10 hits with two walks and seven punchouts.

Francisco Fajardo doubled home a run in London’s two-run third inning. Kaiden Cardoso scored Toby Simmons on a sacrifice fly to the next batter, which briefly gave the Majors a 2-1 lead.

London fell to 5-1, and Welland improved to 3-0.
