Five-run sixth carries Jackfish past Majors

WELLAND – A five-run sixth lifted the Welland Jackfish to a 6-5 win over London Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 4-1, the Jackfish (8-2) racked up five runs on three hits and two walks. Gianfranco Morello had a two-run single for the inning’s biggest hit. Leo Markotic went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and Tyler Dupuis and Ethan Hunt each drove in a run.

Jake Harford (4-0) went six innings, giving up four runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Chris Boatto earned the save with a scoreless ninth, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Taylor Wright went 3-for-4 for London (7-3), hitting two home runs and driving in three. Cleveland Brownlee and Robert Mullen each drove in a run.

Daniel Gore (0-1) took the loss, yielding two runs on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Pedro De Los Santos started and went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
