IBL’s Welland Membership Announces Brand Name and Logo
WELLAND – Welland Baseball Club today announced the Welland Jackfish as the new name for the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) team. The Welland Jackfish represents the city of Welland fishing past time along with the river that is home to the northern pike (jackfish). The logo, colors and uniforms were also unveiled today during a press conference at Welland Stadium, which is the home for the new team. Speakers on hand for the team announcement included Welland Jackfish Majority Owner and CEO, Ryan Harrison, local Welland Owners Brent Coulombe and Mike Konderka and Intercounty Baseball League Commissioner John Kastner.
Featuring a navy blue, Kelly green and white color scheme, the Jackfish logo features symbols representative of the Welland Canal and Welland River, both treasured sites of the city. The fish stands mighty in the forefront and signifies the strength of Welland citizens.
"Welland is a hard working and proud city, and we're thrilled to be able to reveal today the Welland Jackfish team name as the latest addition to the city's sports' landscape," said Harrison. "The Jackfish (Northern Pike) is a strong inhabitant of the Welland River and a great nod to this Cities fishing background."
