Jackfish Announce Inaugural School Day Game

WELLAND - The Welland Jackfish, Niagara's sports entertainment destination, is excited to announce the inaugural School Day Game set for Tuesday, May 7th when the Jackfish take on the Hamilton Cardinals at 11 am for a pre-season match-up.

Elementary school children in both the District School Board of Niagara and Niagara Catholic District School Board will flood Welland Stadium for this special community-focused game. The School Day Game is an opportunity for children in the Niagara Region to come together in community spirit to support their hometown team in a unique experiential learning environment.  The Game Day will include special learning opportunities integrated leading up to the game, throughout the in-game experience and in class following the game. These integrations place a focus on: healthy-active living, basic math and statistics, geography as well as the importance of mental health.

Participating students will receive a specialty Jackfish exercise book to participate in activities throughout the game and to reflect on the experience in class. Customized in-game engagement activations will also be executed throughout the game.

Any faculty member of both the District School Board of Niagara and Niagara Catholic District School Board interested in more information or how their students can participate are encouraged to contact Jackfish representative Tyler Evans at tevans@wellandjackfish.com or call 905-735-9834. Signing up your school or your class is easy. Just contact Tyler and he'll reserve your spot today with just a rough estimate of the number of children that can attend. He can also provide more information on discounted meal options, and prep course to get your students ready for the big game.

And if you don't think your school can make the journey, the Jackfish have also included ways you can raise money to help finance this journey outside the classroom.

Season Ticket Holders

The School Day Game is exclusive to school-aged children from the local Niagara school boards. Tickets for this game are not included in the 2023-24 season ticket package.
