Jackfish Explode for 19 Runs in Road Victory Over Kitchener
The Welland Jackfish put together one of their most complete offensive performances of the season on Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 19-5 victory over the Kitchener Panthers at Jack Couch Park.
After building an early lead, the Jackfish broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning and never looked back. Welland continued to apply pressure throughout the afternoon, scoring in nearly every inning before putting an exclamation point on the victory with a five-run ninth.
Left-hander Eric Pettipiece earned the win on the mound, tossing six innings while allowing four earned runs on seven hits and striking out three. The Jackfish bullpen closed out the final three innings to secure the convincing victory.
The offense was led by Carson Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Brendan Luther delivered the biggest swing of the day, launching a home run as part of a 2-for-4 performance that included four RBIs. Ethan Mann continued his hot stretch at the plate with three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI.
The Panthers were led offensively by Mateo Zeppieri, who finished 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, while Josh Williams added a double and drove in two runs.
The win improves the Jackfish's momentum as they return home to Welland Stadium for a matchup against Toronto on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
