Jackfish hand Red Sox 13th straight loss

BRANTFORD – The Welland Jackfish beat Brantford 9-3 Monday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium and handed the Red Sox their 13th straight loss.

Andrew Mercier, Bryce O'Farrell, Wilson Soriano and Caleb Feuerstake drove in Welland's runs and combined to score four times. Nolan Pettipiece went 2-for-2 with a run, and Brendan Nicholson and DeAndre Asbury-Heath each singled and scored.

Nicholson had two of the Jackfish's five steals.

Euclides Leyer (4-1) struck out 10 and allowed a trio of runs in seven innings for the win. He scattered seven hits with two walks.

Abel De Los Santos (0-2) allowed six runs (three earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings. He walked four and struck out four.
Offensively, Austin Wilke went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run, and Jeff Fishbaum singled, doubled and scored.

Welland improved 7-7. and Brantford dropped to 1-13.
