Make it eight in a row for the Welland Jackfish. The Jackfish battled back from a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Kitchener Panthers 6-3 and improve to an IBL best (22-6) on the season.

Leadoff hitter Gio Morello led the Jackfish, going 3-for-3 at the dish with an RBI and run scored.

"Gio has been our guy at the top all season," explained Welland Manager Brian Essery.  "He's been great, and our leader on the field and in the clubhouse."

Casey Howard picked up the win, and Chris Boatto the save. The Jackfish added former Brock Badger, and one of the most highly touted players in the league in Justin Gideon earlier in the week.

Gideon batted second and patrolled right field in his Welland debut, finishing 0-for-3 with an RBI.

"Adding one of the best players in the country is huge," Essery said. "He's such an amazing talent. It's unreal to have him in a Jackfish uniform."

Welland visits the Guelph Royals on Saturday and Kitchener on Sunday, before hosting the Royals next Thursday night at The Pond.
