The Welland Jackfish took a 2-1 best-of-five IBL semi-final series lead with an emphatic 15-3 victory over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs Monday at The Pond.
Every Jackfish starter hit the box score in some way shape or form as 1,456 fans cheered in approval.
Steven Moretto went deep, had two hits and two RBI, while Caleb Feuerstake and Tyler Dupuis also had two hits and two RBI apiece. Dupuis added three runs in the win.
Welland actually trailed this game 2-0 in the first inning, and 3-1 in the third, before erupting for five runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth.
"We started slow, but came on. I'm really happy with the past two games," said Jackfish Manager Brian Essery.
After a shaky start Alberto Guerrero settled in to pitch six solid innings in the victory.
"Guerrero gave us what we needed," Essery said.
Rich Corrente, Casey Howard and Scott Gillespie all pitched shutout baseball in relief of Guerrero.
Welland will look to seal the series Wednesday night in Toronto with Ben Abram on the bump.
