Jackfish Re-Sign Euclides Leyer

Welland, ON — The Welland Jackfish, Niagara's Greatest Show, are thrilled to announce the re-signing of right-handed pitcher Euclides Leyer for the 2026 season.

Yes, that Euclides Leyer. The one with a résumé longer than a concession line on $2 Hot Dog Night.

Leyer, a Dominican-born righty, brings a wealth of professional experience back to Welland, including time in Minor League Baseball where he logged 166 appearances, 458 innings, and 384 strikeouts.  Basically, he’s been throwing baseballs past people since flip phones were cool.

In his previous stints with the Jackfish, Leyer has been a steady force on the mound, helping anchor the pitching staff with veteran poise and a fastball that has been described by scouts as “rude.”

Fans can expect Leyer to once again bring his signature mix of command, experience, and ‘good luck hitting that’ energy to Welland Stadium this summer.

When asked about returning, Leyer simply nodded, picked up a baseball, and we’re pretty sure it started humming.

The Jackfish open their 2026 campaign on the road before returning home for what is expected to be another sold-out, fireworks-filled, chaos-infused season.

The Jackfish return to The Pond on Saturday, May 16th, as they take on the Guelph Royals. Full Season, Flex and Group Packages are all available now! To learn more or to purchase, visit www.wellandjackfish.com or call 905-735-9834.
