Jackfish reel in lefty Eric Pettipiece in trade with Chatham-Kent

WELLAND, ON – The Welland Jackfish have gone fishing again... and this time they landed a lefty.
The reigning champions announced today that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Eric Pettipiece in a trade with the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.
Pettipiece arrives in Welland with Canadian Baseball League experience and gives the Jackfish another quality left-handed arm as the club continues to strengthen its roster for a championship push.
"Adding a quality left-handed pitcher is always valuable, and Eric brings the kind of competitiveness and experience we're looking for," said Welland Jackfish General Manager Jason McKay. "He's a proven arm who can give us quality innings and adds even more depth to an already talented pitching staff. We're thrilled to welcome him to the Jackfish family."
Pettipiece has established himself as a dependable presence on the mound and will provide the Jackfish with another versatile option as they navigate the demanding CBL schedule. His ability to attack hitters and compete in high-pressure situations makes him a strong addition to a club with championship aspirations.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to join the Jackfish," said Pettipiece. "I've heard nothing but great things about the organization and the atmosphere in Welland. I'm looking forward to getting to work with my new teammates and doing everything I can to help this team win."
The move further reinforces the Jackfish's commitment to putting the best possible team on the field as they continue their pursuit of another Canadian Baseball League championship.
Fans can catch Pettipiece in action at The Pond throughout the 2026 season as the Jackfish continue to bring Niagara's Greatest Show to Welland Stadium.
