Jackfish tame the Panthers with big hits and eight stolen bases

KITCHENER – The Welland Jackfish went to work on Thursday night, defeating the Kitchener Panthers with twelve hits and eight stolen bases on their way towards a 14-1 win.

Sam Cawker went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI as the Jackfish moved to 6-1. Brandon Nicholson went 3-for-6 with three RBI and two runs, Gianfranco Morello drove in two and scored three times, Tyler Dupuis had two hits, an RBI and a run and Ethan Hunt singled twice, drove in two and scored a run.

Scott Gillespie (1-0) went six innings for the win, allowing a run on four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Blake Jacklin hit a solo home run in the third inning for Kitchener (2-3).

Adam Robertson (0-2) took the loss, giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits over 1.1 innings of relief. He walked two and struck out three. Panthers starter Brady Schnarr yielded a run on three hits over 2.1 innings, walking one and striking out one.
