Jackfish to honour local hero as the Welland Roses Return
The Welland Jackfish, the greatest show in Niagara, announced today that FINALLY, the Welland Roses will return to Welland Stadium for one night only on Saturday, July 22nd as they take on the London Majors. First pitch set for 6:05 pm.
The Fish will also celebrate the life of local hero, Captain Craig Bowman who passed away on May 21st at the age of 47 after a fight with cancer, an occupational illness of the job. The Jackfish along with the Bowman family and the Welland Professional Firefighters Association will join forces to raise funds for Hospice Niagara. Game-worn Welland Roses jerseys will be auctioned during the game with proceeds to support Hospice Niagara and the Jackfish will donate $1 from each ticket sold to the game as well.
Captain Craig Bowman started his career in fire service in Thorold before joining the Welland fire department as a full-time firefighter in 2002. Rising to the rank of captain, he was a natural leader and built many strong relationships, always looking out for others.
