Jafine excellent in 7-3 win over the Jackfish

Welland, Ontario - 155 pitches...you read that right. Adam Jafine threw 155 pitches to pick up his first win of the season on Thursday night at the Pond.

Jafine only gave up three hits in a complete game work while the Jackfish starter Chris Boatto gave up nine hits, six earned runs and striking out six Red Sox batters.

The game was scoreless until the fifth when the bottom of the order came alive for the Red Sox scoring three runs.  Nick Burdett, Robbie Gauthier, and Michael Deluca all came across the plate to score runs.

Welland would answer with two runs in the bottom half of the fifth but it wasn't enough as Brantford’s Liam Sutherland put the game out of reach with a two-run home run in the eighth.

Chris Boatto gets docked with the loss while Adam Jafine earns the win.

This win for Brantford also is the first-ever victory for the Red Sox over the Jackfish.  Welland will hit the road to take on the London Majors on Friday and then end the weekend at Coates Stadium on Saturday in Barrie. Welland returns home Thursday, August 5, for the World's Largest Toga Party!  First pitch set for 7:30pm.
