Late inning longball propels Jackfish to third straight win

Welland, Ontario - The league leading London Majors came into Welland with an impressive 11-3 record but were up against a very tough Jackfish lineup on Thursday night.
Nick Carrell made his London Major debut on the hill while Brett Lawson was starting his first game on the mound this season for Welland. Welland's Brandon Nicholson had another fantastic night going 1 for 3, scored 3 runs, and was walked twice. Brendon Dadson also scored 3 runs, Tofteland scored twice, and Marriott, Keller, Warken, and Hilderbrandt each came across the plate once.
The Majors had a 5-2 lead until the sixth where the Jackfish scored four runs which included a huge blast off the bat of Brendon Dadson which carried to the houses behind the right-field wall. Cole Warken would also get in on the action sending a ball out of the park in the seventh inning. Brett Lawson went four and a third innings where he allowed nine hits, struck out five Majors but gave up five runs all of which were earned.
Nick Carrell went five and a third innings for the Majors and gave up eight hits, walked one Jackfish batter, struck out three but allowed six runs all of which were earned runs.
Will Jackman was excellent in relief for the Jackfish picking up the victory for the Jackfish. Robert Doyle is docked with the loss after coming in relief for the Majors.
The Jackfish are back at home Saturday night and will look to stay hot and keep the winning streak alive against the Barrie Baycats. First pitch is set for 6:05 pm. Saturday there will be a post-game firework show for all fans to stay and enjoy.
