The Welland Jackfish reeled off their 12th straight victory with a 10-6 win over the visiting Hamilton Cardinals Thursday night.

The Jackfish opened a 3-0 lead in the third inning only to see the visitors tie things in the fourth.

Hamilton would actually go up 6-5 in the sixth inning, before Welland took the lead in the bottom half of the inning, then added three more runs in the seventh to round out the scoring.

James Smibert had three hits and two RBI, while Luis Jean played some stellar defence, and added a pair of hits and two RBI as well.

"We did grind it out again tonight, and that's what good teams do," explained Jackfish Manager Brian Essery.

"Over nine innings it's tough to keep us down - we keep coming at you."

James Bradwell, another British Columbia native on the Welland roster, picked up the win in his Jackfish debut..

"Bradwell looked really good tonight," Essery said. "Another hard thrower to add to our staff."

The defending stolen base record holders were at it again, stealing eight bases in total in the victory.

"We're aggressive and will keep coming at you. Our speed and aggressiveness is the way we play. We won't change that," added Essery.
