Miller shuts down Jackfish
HAMILTON – Clay Miller allowed an unearned run and struck out four to lead the Hamilton Cardinals to a 4-1 win over the visiting Welland Jackfish Friday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.
Miller (1-0) scattered five hits over 7.1 innings and didn't issue a walk. Tanner Guindon picked up his first save, throwing a scoreless inning and striking out two around a walk and hit allowed.
Offensively, Chris Beer and Jake Foden each had an RBI. Justin Gideon doubled once and scored twice, while Jon Dziomba had two hits and a run.
Nate Mastervick scored Welland's lone run.
Euclides Leyer (1-1) took the loss, yielding four runs (three earned) on five hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out five.
Each team is now 3-2.
