The Cap is Back, Jackfish Re-sign Morello for 2026

WELLAND - The Welland Jackfish, Niagara's Greatest Show, is excited to announce the first signing of the 2026 Season by welcoming back team captain, outfielder Gianfranco Morello!

Morello, the longest-serving Jackfish player, joined the Fish in 2022 and has helped guide the club to three pennants and two Dominico Cup Championships returns to the electric factory for his fifth season.

"Gio's signing in 2022 changed the culture for the fish," said Jackfish General Manager Jason McKay. "It only made sense to make him our first signing for the new era of the CBL."

Last season, Gio recorded a .333 average with 10 doubles, 1 triple, a home run and 27 RBI.

"This guy is electric and embodies everything that it means to be a Jackfish," said Jackfish President and Director of Fun, Ryan Harrison. "One of our all-time fan favourites, we're excited to hear the Gio chants throughout The Pond in 2026!"
