Weisner ready to win again for the Rose City

Jonah Weisner to return for his third year with the Fish
Some of our sources in the Jackfish front office are calling Jonah Weisner one of the most electric players on the roster which is saying a lot with the likes of Gio Morello, Brendan Luther and the second part of the self-titled Electric Brothers, Brandon Hupe, looking to return to The Pond.
Niagara's Greatest Show, the Welland Jackfish are pumped to announce that 2024 and 2025 All-Star, Jonah Weisner will return “home” for the 2026 season. The Ottawa University (Kansas) alumnus is ready to put down roots in Niagara and call the region home following an amazing season, during which he recorded a .349 average with 9 electric doubles, 1 triple, and a career-high six home runs.
“My focus is clear; compete at the highest level, bring another championship home, and build a legacy in this city,” said Jonah. “I’m here to stay.”
The former Sylvan Lake Gull spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons in the Western Canadian Baseball League, where he was named the WCBL MVP in 2023.
“Jonah is as complete a player as they come in the Canadian League” said Jackfish General Manager, Jason McKay. “Dominant on both sides of the ball with speed, Jonah brings an energy and intensity that makes him a fan favourite.”
Field Manager Brian Essery added, “Jonah is an elite talent in our league, a first-team all-star, hits at the top of our lineup and provides excellent defence up the middle. On top of the physical talent, he has great character and is a leader in our clubhouse. We’re thrilled to have Jonah back for the 2026!”
Prior to joining Niagara’s Greatest Show, Jonah suited up for the Quebec Capitales of the Frontier League.
The Welland Jackfish return to The Pond on Saturday, May 16th, as they begin their “Go Big or Go Home Tour”. Group, VIP packages along with 2026 Season Memberships and Flex Packages are now available at www.wellandjackfish.com.
