The Welland Jackfish opened a 4-nothing first-inning lead, and led 5-3 after two innings, but after that, it was all London Majors in a 14-6 final.

The Majors pounded out 21 total hits and moved into first place (14-5) with the victory.

The Jackfish fell to (14-6) with the loss.

"They kicked our but tonight," said Welland Manager Brian Essery. "We started out great, and then the wheels fell off.

We didn't pitch well or play good defence. We'll bounce back tomorrow in Kitchener."

The Jackfish committed three errors in defeat.

Veteran Keith Kandel led London with four hits and three RBI, while Brandon Nicholson and Matt Hilderbrandt each drove in a pair of the Jackfish, while James Smibert recorded three hits.

Both starters factored in the decision, as Jose Arias picked up the win, while Chris Boatto shouldered the loss.

Welland visits Kitchener Sunday afternoon before opening a home and home against the Hamilton Cardinals beginning Tuesday night in the Steel City, before a return match at Welland Stadium Thursday night. Game time is 7:30 pm.
